Arrgh!

JSTOR
I can't believe I spent two years at Vic without knowing about this site. It has scans of Journal articles. Lots of them, including several that I personally pursued into the bowels of the Uni library looking for. That's dust, poor air conditioning, and big shelves that you have to move with a winder and look like they're about to Squash you, folks.

Dammit. 8 months ago I asked the librarian at the Information Desk about journal databases and the only one he knew about was the National Library's one, which is lovely, but exceedingly poor on Classics.

(Thanks for telling me about it, Naomi.)

If it be any consolation, I'd never heard of it either, and I'm a classics major.

Hmm, I knew about JSTOR. It didn't occur to me that it would be useful to you though..

My usual process for finding articles starts with Google (or Citeseer), and then if I find it on a pay site, I check if I've got access through the library.

I've got access through Massey, so if you find somehting on a site like Springerlink (which Massey gets but VUW doesn't), I can get it for you..

Springerlink
By the looks of things, I've also got access to Cambridge Journals and IngentaConnect.

Actually, this one looks quite interesting: http://www.springerlink.com/content/9a2jx92eka2katd5/?p=a23fbd9656e84a37a5a67794444778ff&pi=1

Alas, your URL doesn't work. If you give me the article title, and maybe the journal too, I can look for it..

Yeah, sorry Steph. I only noticed it because I have free access through work, so when I was looking for resources it just kinda sprung up. I never knew such resources existed when I was at Otago.

I was extremely impressed with the site so I mentioned it several times on LJ when it came to essay writing. That means Mash has no excuse. ;)

Though he may not have known he could access it for free through the vic library website.

JStor only became available at Vic about in June or so...if that makes you feel any better.
