One of the internet widgets I've recently found is the Gender Genie, which implements an algorithm tracking keywords that are, according to the creator, indicative of gender.
Blog posts, essays, fiction... only one of them thought I was at all girlie, and that was a retelling of Sir Gawain in not at all colloquial English. I wonder what it would think if I wrote a short story about barbie dolls...

I tried feeding it this post and it said I was a guy. ^O^
But, really, is that all there is to it? Take a small bunch of specific words for each gender, weight them, count, and add? Clearly you just need to say "with" and "if" more often, and cut down on "around" and "what" :-)
I also write like a boy. My blog post scores were pretty close, with male coming out on top by a small margin each time. My essays, however, were decidedly masculine. Even the one on Imperial women.
